Creating an indoor-outdoor dining space with its own BBQ pit was the challenge we accepted when we agreed that Monroe could use a great new barbecue restaurant.
The property where “When Pigs Fly” now sits was previously another restaurant space with a small parking lot. Once that business closed it’s doors, the building sat empty until a new restauranteur approached with big ideas.
We began by clearing off the face of the property, making room for an outdoor BBQ pit and open-air seating.
Adding windows above the restaurant space made the upstairs office space much more desirable, and added visual appeal to the otherwise blank wall.
Creating an outdoor space not only provided a place to cook up delicious BBQ, but also added seating for patrons to enjoy their plates in the fresh air.
We were able to fully renovate the indoor dining space as well as rehabilitate the exterior of the property. With careful planning, we were able to overcome the poor design of the building by reimagining the space and repurposing some aspects of the property in order to maximize the building’s ability to host many great meals.
